Leg injury rules out Jogia

Player pulls out of match subject to investigation

Joe Jogia has withdrawn from his Snooker Shoot-out match against Matthew Selt in Blackpool on Saturday.

The match is the subject of an investigation by the sport's governing body the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) after a bookmaker reported it had been the subject of unusual betting patterns.

It is understood an unusually large number of small bets were placed on Selt to win the match with various bookmakers.

World Snooker confirmed that Jogia had withdrawn from the tournament on medical grounds, and he will now be replaced by Rod Lawler in the match against Selt.

"I have spoken to Joe on a couple of occasions," WPBSA chairman Jason Ferguson said. "He has confirmed that he has a leg injury which I'm aware that other people are aware of.

"His withdrawal is on medical grounds and he will have to present a doctor's note to us following his withdrawal from the event."

Ferguson said the investigation into the match by the association's Integrity Unit would continue.
