Mark Williams Premier League 2011 (Winner)Snooker 11/04

Williams started playing snooker at an early age and scored his first century when he was 13. He won his first junior event when he was 11 and it was then that he realised that he wanted to pursue a career as a snooker player. He was encouraged to play by his father Dilwyn, who was a miner. When he was 15 he did a 12 hour shift down the mines. Williams was also a promising Amateur boxer being undefeated in 12 fights as a schoolboy, but he decided to pursue his snooker career instead. He turned professional in 1992 and finished his first season ranked 119th, and within three seasons was ranked in the Worlds top 16, breaking into the 16 for the 1996/1997 season. Williams` first ranking tournament win came in January 1996 when he claimed the Welsh Open title, beating John Parrott 9–3 in the final. After failing to qualify for the 1996 World Championship he won the first ranking event of the new season – the Grand Prix – in October 1996, beating surprise finalist Euan Henderson 9–5 in the final. In 1997 he also won the British Open, beating Stephen Hendry 9–2 in the final. He also beat Hendry in the final to win his first Masters title in 1998, winning on the final black 10–9 after recovering from 6–9 down, in a thrilling final. At the 1997 World Championship he was drawn against Terry Griffiths, the latter's last appearance at the Crucible as a player, he eventually beating his coach 10–9 on the black but lost 8–13 to Hendry in the last-16. In 1998 World Championship he reached the semi-finals, and the next year was runner-up to Hendry.

At the World Cup Williams was partnered with Matthew Stevens to represent Wales, and they reached the semi-finals, but lost 1–4 against China. Williams then reached the final of the Australian Goldfields Open, but lost 8–9 against Stuart Bingham, after leading 8–5 at one point of the match. Williams also lost from in front in the final of the next major ranking event, the Shanghai Masters. His run to the final included a 6–5 win over Neil Robertson in the semi-final, and he led Mark Selby 9–7 in the final, but lost the last three frames to lose 9–10.

Snooker - Premier League 2011 (Winner) 11/04

Matthew Stevens (born 11 September 1977) is a Welsh professional snooker player. Stevens has won two of the game's most prestigious events, the Benson and Hedges Masters in 2000 and the UK Championship in 2003. He has also been the runner-up in the World Snooker Championship on two occasions, in 2000 and 2005. Stevens reached a career high ranking of #4 for the 2005/2006 season, and is currently ranked inside of the elite top 16 at number 14. Stevens is known as a good breakbuilder, and has compiled over 200 competitive centuries so far during his career.

Stevens turned professional in 1994 and in his second season won the Benson & Hedges Championship to qualify for the 1996 Masters. At the Masters he beat Terry Griffiths 5–3 but lost 6–5 to Alan McManus. The following season he also showed potential by beating Stephen Hendry 5–1 in the Grand Prix. In the 1997/1998 season he reached the semi-finals of both the Grand Prix and UK Championship. He also reached the quarter-finals on his debut at the Crucible of the World Championship, beating Alain Robidoux and Mark King before losing to Ken Doherty. Snooker - Premier League 2011 (Winner) 12bet looks at Ding Junhui

In February 2004, Ding was awarded a wildcard entry to the Masters in London, where, in the first round, he defeated the then world no. 16-ranked player, Joe Perry, before narrowly losing 6–5 in the second round to experienced top player Stephen Lee after holding a 2–5 lead over him. His performance favourably impressed many commentators, who since then rated him a likely future World Champion.

In March 2005, he celebrated his 18th birthday by reaching the final of the China Open in Beijing, along the way defeating world top-16 ranked players Peter Ebdon, Marco Fu and Ken Doherty. In that final he played against then world no.-3-ranked Stephen Hendry, whom he beat by 9 frames to 5, to score his first ranking tournament win. 110 million people watched the final against Hendry on China's national sports channel CCTV-5 – by far the biggest TV audience ever recorded for a snooker match.

In December 2005, he beat another crop of world top-16 players, namely Jimmy White, the late Paul Hunter and Joe Perry once more on his way to reaching the final of another major tournament, the UK Championship at the Barbican Centre in York. This time he met the resurgent snooker legend Steve Davis, and defeated him by ten frames to six, in doing so becoming the first player from outside Britain or Ireland to win that particular title. Following this victory, his world ranking was provisionally raised from 60 (62 at the start of the season) to 31. At the end of the season, he was ranked 27th.

In the 2006 China Open he gave his home crowd a good run for their money, but lost 6–2 to eventual winner Mark Williams in the semi-finals.
On 19 August 2006, he beat Stephen Lee 6–1, and reached the final of the Northern Ireland Trophy, meeting Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final the following day. He beat O'Sullivan 9–6 to claim his third ranking tournament win, becoming only the third person ever to do so before his twentieth birthday, after O'Sullivan and John Higgins. This win pushed his provisional world ranking position up to fifth.
In December 2006, he won three gold medals at the Asian Games, winning the Single, Double and Team Snooker competitions. The following week, he reached, as the defending champion, the quarterfinal stage of the 2006 UK Snooker Championship,[13] and subsequently lost to his practice partner and eventual winner, Peter Ebdon, by 9 frames to 5.

Robertson better than before 10/24 12Bet update

Neil Robertson claims he is a better player now than he was when he won snooker's world title after beating Judd Trump 4-1 in the final of Players Tour Championship.

It was the Australian's second PTC title of the season having won PTC6 in Poland three weeks ago.
The left-hander conceded just six frames in the seven matches he won at the Killarney Convention Centre, finishing with a comfortable victory over Trump.
A scrappy first frame went to Robertson on the colours, then Trump levelled in the second with a top break of 39.
Robertson knocked in a 76 to regain the lead and stole the crucial fourth frame by potting the final blue and pink. And a calm 65 in the next saw him clinch the 10,000 Euro top prize.
"It wasn't the best final but my safety was good and I did what I needed to," said Robertson, who won the Betfred.com World Championship in 2010.
"Up until the final I played really well. Last season I was crashing out in the first or second round of most of the PTC events so it's great to have won a couple now.
"My form is looking good with the UK Championship and the Masters coming up.

"I've practised harder than ever this season and I am very solid, even when I'm playing badly. The player who won the world title is gone and I'm a much better player now."
Robertson, who goes top of the Order of Merit ahead of Ronnie O'Sullivan, also gave his opinion on the PTC events, adding: "You won't hear me saying many negative things about them because they are important in terms of promoting the game overseas.
"Of course we would like to be playing for higher prize money, but if they grow into events with sponsors and TV money then we will benefit." - http://www.espnstar.com

Ali Carter is making his PartyCasino.com Premier League debut this year.

Having been knocking on the door for two seasons, the Essex man gets the nod courtesy of his second career ranking tournament victory.

Carter made a fantastic start to the 2010/11 season by winning the first ranking event of the campaign. He previously had a poor record in tournaments in China, but corrected that in the best fashion by winning the Roewe Shanghai Masters.

He nearly went out at the quarter-final stage as Matthew Stevens was one ball away from beating him, but, after Stevens missed a tricky final black, Carter executed a brilliant long pot to win the match 5-4. He went on the beat Mark Selby 6-2 in the semis before battling to a 10-7 victory over surprise finalist Jamie Burnett. It was not a final of great quality, the standard undoubtedly affected by a slow cloth caused by the humid atmosphere, but for Carter, all that mattered was getting his name on the trophy. - http://www.premierleaguesnooker.com

12BET TIPS : Snooker - Premier League 2011 (Winner) 10/21

The Rocket won PTC1 earlier this season and took the £10,000 top prize again at the seventh event in the series, which was named the Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy.

O'Sullivan has not won a full ranking event for over two years and has slipped to No 14 in the world, but has thrived in the PTCs and leads the Order of Merit.
Breaks of 95 and 76 saw him take a 2-0 lead in the final before Welshman Stevens pulled one back by winning a scrappy third frame on the colours.
A run of 53 put three-times World Champion O'Sullivan 3-1 ahead then Stevens showed his class with a 127 to win frame five.
But any hopes of a fight-back were short lived as a smooth 88 from O'Sullivan in the next gave him the title. - http://www.sportinglife.com

12BET Snooker - Premier League 2011 (Winner) 10/14

Playing in front of what was effectively his home crowd, Trump looked relaxed as he edged the first frame with a break of 38. A run of 81 in the next gave Judd a 2-0 lead as Stevens looked in trouble.

The Welshman who has had a good start to the league under the new format had chances in the next but he could not stem the Trump tide as the West Countryman ran in a 49 to take the match 3-0.

“I’m delighted really, coming into the event so late,” said Trump.

“That’s a good start and I need to get back in the mix over the next couple of weeks to get up there.”

“The second match is a lot easier; in the first you’re getting used to the conditions and there’s more pressure. In the second you can enjoy it.”

“Matt was playing the better snooker, he dominated the semi-final. It’s always important to get in front against the top players as it gives you the confidence.”

Trump next plays at Exeter on 20th October where he meets Ali Carter and will certainly be buoyed by that win. Next week the Premier League reconvenes in Stoke when Mark Williams meets Ali Carter and Jimmy White takes on Ding Junhui. - http://www.premierleaguesnooker.com
